15th death ceremony of Late Guru Subinoy Roy was observed at Kalamandalam on the 9th of January’2020.In memory of Late Guru & Sangitacharya Subinay Roy ,Swarnali Pal in association with Santoshpur Agantuk organized a 2 day workshop on songs of Rabindranath Tagore on the 9th and 10th of January’20.The workshop was based on two most important burning issues :1)How to safe guard Rabindrasangeet ?and 2) How to prevent tampering from its originality ? The workshop was conducted by three eminent Rabindra sangeet researcher ,critic, mentors and singers as facilitators. At the very beginning, the facilitators were felicitated with mementoes of frame with a sketch of Late Guru Subinoy Roy and calendar published by Santoshpur Agantuk .
Mr.Suranjan Roy taught the participants the different intricacies of Tagore’s songs in a very simple manner.The learners were enjoying the technique of his teaching process. Mrs.Sanghamitra Gupta was describing how to pronounce each word of Rabindra sangeet and the technique of breath in and breath out while singing Tagore’s songs. She was remembering Late Guru Subinay Roy and his dedication for maintaining the sanctity of Rabindra Sangeet.
Mr.Aniruddha Singha, the disciple of Late Guru Subinay Roy was discussing how Tagore’s songs were loosing its clarity. He was mentioning that no of drums and percussions were used by modern singers of Tagore’s songs. Through audio recording, he was showing some experience of tampered Tagore’s songs.
Needless to mention ,Mr.Gautam Roy in Tabla ,Khol & Pakhowaj and Mr.Sugata Chattopadhyay in Esraj,disciple of late Guru Subinoy Roy did excellent accompaniment .In this occasion ,participants from different parts of Kolkata and suburbs attended the workshop and performed before the facilitators.In the middle of the workshop ,with big round of applause, living legend dancer Guru Thankumony Kutty and Mr.Somenath Kutty ,secy of Kalamandalam were felicitated.
Swarnali Pal being a disciple of Late Guru Subinoy Roy pays homage to her guru every year in association with Mr.Arijit Mukherjee,Secy.Santoshpur Agantuk and Mr.Timir Saha ,another important member of Santoshur Agantuk. With this 2 day workshop in memory of Late Guru Subinoy Roy was concluded with many good memories and learning.
